Presbyterian Church USA
Cambridge United Presbyterian Church is part of Albany Presbytery of the Presbyterian Church USA (PCUSA). for more information about our denomination check out its website www.pcusa.org/
History
This congregation traces its roots to the earliest settlers of this area. In 1750 a united church of several denominations was founded. The construction of its building was interrupted by the Revolutionary War. In the 1780's a disagreement concerning the relationship between the church and legal authorities resulted in a split between the Coila and United Church. The United Church purchased property on the Four Corners (Main and Park) and built (where the present Rite Aid stands.) The building was not heated. People brought coals from home, sat in box pews and covered themselves in blankets. Services lasted several hours. In 1872 the present building was completed, with heat!
Vision
Our unifying goal is to love God and others in Jesus' Name. We do that by being a center of hospitality and service. We operate under the assurance that by God's grace revealed in Jesus and secured by the Holy Spirit since before time, that we Belong to God and one another. Our life's work is to align our Beliefs and Behavior accordingly. The hallmarks of this kind of life are Gratitude and Generosity.
